Girl From The North Country tickets

There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel! The Girl From the North Country is here to show you the way to the Des Moines Civic Center where audiences can catch the two-and-a-half-hour production from November 28th to December 3rd!

In the harsh winter of 1934, in Duluth, Minnesota, our story takes place in the Laine family’s boarding house with walls echoing with stories of hope and hardship. From Elizabeth Laine, whose mind is ensnared by dementia’s cruel threads, to Dr. Walker, a physician caught in morphine’s unforgiving grasp, each soul bears secrets veiled in the shadows of struggle. In a time when the country bears the heavy cloak of adversity, the question lingers: Can rays of hope pierce through the darkness, revealing the path to redemption?

Simply put, The Girl From the North Country is a musical adaptation of Conor McPherson’s original book fused with the inspiring tracks of Boby Dylan. It first opened in 2018, gracing the stages of New York’s prestigious Public Theatre. There, it garnered acclaim, clinching the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical. In a series of successful showings, the show soared even higher in the Broadway skies back in 2019 when it was featured in the prestigious Belasco Theatre. Additionally, the show secured seven Tony Award nominations and won the Best Orchestrations category.

“A rupture of a musical. Listen up: You’ll want to journey to the spiritually rousing Girl from the North Country!” – The Washington Post

“Nothing less than a Broadway Revelation.” – Chicago Tribune

Furthermore, the brilliance of award-winning orchestrator Simon Hale shines, as he breathes new life into twenty of Bob Dylan’s legendary anthems. Hale’s transformative orchestrations reimagine classics like “Forever Young,” “All Along The Watchtower,” “Hurricane,” “Slow Train Coming,” and “Like A Rolling Stone,” presenting them in a new light, unlike anything we’ve heard before.
